Welcome

Brian Beck

Welcome/Bienvenido,
I am Mr. Beck and I wanted to share a little bit about me.  I was born and raised in Nyssa.  I attended Nyssa High School where I enjoyed playing sports and being a friend to all.  I served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 2000 to 2002 in Venezuela.  I attended college at Ricks/BYU-Idaho where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Spanish Education with a Health Education Minor in December, 2005.  My wife and I have four kids and we live in Nyssa.  I finished my Master's Degree in October, 2012 in Teacher Leadership.  I love teaching and look forward to making more changes in my teaching techniques to better improve my student's learning and speaking of the Spanish language.  I went to Costa Rica with two other students during the Summer of 2013 where we enjoyed learning about their culture and biodiversity.
Students can expect to hear a lot of Spanish, but more importantly, speak a lot of Spanish.  The purpose of taking a foreign language is to learn to speak it.  I expect my students to speak as much as they can, for that is the way that I learned it, and I know it is the easiest way to learn a foreign language.
To the parents-be willing to practice with your child.  The more they study and practice, the more they will learn and retain.
