•Bullpup Talk with the Principals on Feb. 18th had an agenda with two topics:
Play Group Follow-up: Due to the cost of the playground project the whole project had to go out to an open bid. Once the school board approves the project bid, then we will be able to move forward with the process. If you have feedback or input, about the playground, please reach out to Mr. Shane Pratt, Principal, and share. (spratt@nyssasd.org)
The main part of the meeting was used to share about the health curriculum, The Great Body Shop. We now have samples of the curriculum available for people to see and look through. If you would like to view this curriculum and provide feedback please email Mr. Shane Pratt (spratt@nyssasd.org) to make an appointment to see the curriculum.

•LAST CALL…….Yearbook Sales ended last week but we will take last minute orders through WEDNESDAY, Feb. 26th only! After this date your student is no longer guaranteed a yearbook. To purchase your student’s yearbook please visit the QR code below or reach out to your child’s teacher for an order form. The yearbooks will be $25.00. If yearbooks are available after Feb. 27th they will be $35.00 each and are on a first come first served basis. Please don’t wait to purchase your student’s yearbook to preserve their Elementary School memories.
•As we approach the upcoming state tests, including the ELPA and SBAC, we want to remind you how important these tests are for your child, their teacher, and the school. These tests help us understand your child's progress and areas where they may need extra help. They also give teachers valuable information to support your child’s learning.
To help your child do their best, we ask that you make sure they get a full night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and limit screen time before bed. A good night’s rest helps your child focus and do well on the tests. It's also important to avoid interruptions like being late to school, leaving early, or missing school. The more time students have for test practice and review with their teacher, the better prepared they will be.
We appreciate your support in helping your child succeed!
•The Little Caesar Pizza fundraiser is due on Thursday, February 27th. Please make sure all orders and money are turned into your child’s teacher no later than 3:45 pm on Thursday, 2/27/25. If someone needs the online code the Fundraiser ID# is 455191. Please use this Fundraiser ID# and not the one on the form.
• Read Across America week will be celebrated the week of March 3-6th at Nyssa Elementary School.
Monday, March 3rd -- Cat in the Hat Day (wear your favorite hat or dress like Cat-in-the-Hat)
Tuesday, March 4th -- Cindy Lou Who Day (crazy hair day or dress like someone from Whoville)
Wednesday, March 5th -- Fox in Socks Day (wear your craziest socks)
Thursday, March 6th -- Be Comfy and Read Day (wear your school appropriate pajamas or dress in your favorite Dr. Seuss clothes).
•Roaring Readers Reading Logs are due on March 19, 2025. Each student who turns in a signed reading log (to their teacher) before the deadline will earn one free Roaring Springs Entrance Ticket. K-4th Grade students need to complete 600 recreational reading minutes and 5th Graders need to complete 800 minutes of recreational reading. This is a goal that is achievable by everyone. Any student may count the minutes an adult is reading to them towards their minutes for this reading log.
Remember the log must have your parent’s signature before you turn it in. Have fun reading everyone!

• La Plática Bullpup con los Directores el 18 de febrero tuvo dos temas:
Área de juegos: Debido al costo del proyecto, la construcción debe someterse a un proceso de licitación pública. Una vez que el Consejo Escolar apruebe la propuesta, podremos avanzar. Si tienes comentarios o sugerencias para el proyecto, comunícate con el Sr. Shane Pratt (spratt@nyssasd.org).

• ¡ÚLTIMA LLAMADA!....... ¡La venta de los anuarios terminó la semana pasada, pero aceptaremos pedidos de última hora hasta el MIÉRCOLES 26 de FEBRERO! Después de esta fecha, su estudiante ya no tendrá garantizado un anuario. Para comprar el anuario de su estudiante, escanee el código QR a continuación o comuníquese con el maestro de su hijo para obtener un formulario de pedido. El costo del anuario es de $25.00. Si quedan anuarios disponibles después del 27 de febrero, costarán $35.00 cada uno y se venderán por orden de llegada. • La recaudación de fondos de Little Caesars Pizza termina el jueves 27 de febrero. Miércoles, 5 de marzo – Día del Zorro con Calcetines (Usa tus calcetines más locos)
Jueves, 6 de marzo – Día de Estar Cómodo y Leer (Usa pijama apropiada para la escuela o vístete con ropa de Dr. Seuss)
• Los registros de lectura de Roaring Readers deben entregarse antes del 19 de marzo de 2025. Cada estudiante que entregue un registro de lectura firmado (a su maestro) antes de la fecha límite recibirá un boleto de entrada gratis para Roaring Springs. Los estudiantes de Kínder a 4to grado deben completar 600 minutos de leer en casa. Los estudiantes de 5to grado deben completar 800 minutos de leer en casa. ¡Este es un objetivo alcanzable para todos! Los estudiantes pueden contar los minutos en los que un adulto les lea como parte de su registro de lectura. Si comienzas hoy, necesitarías leer 14 minutos al día desde ahora hasta el 19 de marzo para alcanzar la meta de 600 minutos o 19 minutos al día para alcanzar la meta de 800 minutos.
Recuerde que el registro debe tener la firma de un padre antes de entregarlo. ¡Diviértanse leyendo, todos!
