Parents and Guardians,
My name is Aundra De Witt and I am the school nurse here at Nyssa School District. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and provide information. I have had the opportunity to meet a few of our students and their parents/guardians during the first semester and I look forward to meeting many more with students returning to in-person instruction on Monday, January 25, 2021.
Students who require medications while on campus-
If your student requires routine medications, or health monitoring (ex. diabetes, asthma, etc.), while on campus, please reach out to me so we can develop an IHP (Individual Health Plan) prior to them returning to school. I have reached out to students that I am aware of, but if you have not heard from me, please communicate. I will not be able to dispense medications until the appropriate forms have been completed and signed. Email is best.
COVID Contact for the district
I am the person to contact within the district if you have questions, concerns or information to report about COVID. I work daily with school staff and the Malheur County Health Department to help ensure the safety of our students and staff while on campus. If your student is identified as a person who has been, or potentially exposed, I assure you I will notify you. Need dictates my schedule outside of regular school hours. Also, I ask that if your student is out sick, for any reason involving illness, that you communicate with me before sending them back to school. We have specific guidelines from ODE and MCHD to follow in regards to illness. One guideline, non COVID related is, that students must be free of symptoms for 24 hours before returning to campus. Together, we can continue to keep our school campus a safe, healthy environment for all who study and work here.
Vaccinations
If your student has received additional vaccinations over the last semester and you need to update their records with the school, please bring documentation to their school secretary. If your student is behind with their scheduled vaccination plan and you need assistance, please let me know.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out. I appreciate the opportunity to be your school nurse.
