The National BPA Competition in Nashville was a very successful experience for our students. As a freshman, Hannah Mardock placed 38th out of 70 competitors in Healthcare Administration Procedures, amazing for a freshman! Natalie Beck and Ruth Romans advanced to the finals in Video Production. In the finals, teams were given a prompt and had four hours to film, edit, and upload a one-minute video. Natalie and Ruth finished 8th in the nation!
In addition to competitive events, students enjoyed many activities around Nashville. Hannah and Kiyanna attended a full-day leadership workshop that ended up being one of their favorite parts of the trip. We also visited Goo Goo Cluster Candy, where everyone created their own 1/4-pound Goo Goo Cluster and learned about the company’s history, marketing, rebranding efforts, and the importance of collaborations in their current success. The trip would not have been complete without a visit to the famous Grand Ole Opry.

What an opportunity for our Nyssa Theatre Department! As part of The Patty Duke Awards hosted by the Morrison Center, our top two scoring actors from The Lightning Thief were invited to an intensive week led by Broadway industry professionals this week. These 13 hour days culminate in the awards ceremony this Friday night at 7:30pm where they will perform. We also won Best Costume design team. Lorien Bowns, Emily Cornell, and Keira Briner will receive their awards on stage at the ceremony. Tickets are on sale at www.morrisoncenter.com.
