We look forward to seeing all of our student tomorrow August 21 for the first day of school. Schedules are available on StudentVue and a printed copy will be available tomorrow morning by the main office. We will have a school-wide assembly at 8:00 in the auditorium. Please remember that our school day this school year is 8:00-3:30 with sports practices starting at 4:00. Please help your child have a great first day by ensuring that they dress according to our school dress code which this year includes no rips or holes in jeans. La noche de regreso a la escuela de Nyssa High School es hoy de 4:00 a 6:00. Los estudiantes podrán pagar gastos, obtener sus lockers conocer a sus nuevos maestros, y recoger sus chromebooks. The Nyssa High School Back To School Night is today from 4:00-6:00. Students will be able to pay fees, get their lockers , and meet their new teachers. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will also be able to pick up their chromebooks. Student schedules are on ParentVue and StudentVue and our counselor will be available to assist with schedule change requests.
Since we are still in transition from construction please use the gym entrance first where you can pick up a bingo card, pay fees, and if needed request a schedule change. Then go to the main building to get your locker and chromebooks and meet your teachers. We look forward to seeing you tonight.
Nyssa HOSA competing in an Anatomy competition on an Anatomage Table during the ILC College and Career Fair. Many of the nations top colleges and universities were present offering members information about their institutions and programs.

Deadline is Friday, 8/11/23 for fall sports - practices start Monday, 8/14/23 and the following is required:
1. Code of Conduct (all athletes yearly)
2. Drug Waiver (all athletes yearly)
3. Co-Curricular Form (all athletes yearly)
4. Waiver of Communicable Diseases (all athletes yearly)
5. Physical - All incoming freshmen regardless of middle school physicals and any who have or will expire for the 10th-12th grades
6. Concussion Test - All incoming freshmen and any who have or will expire for the 10th-12th grade (this test will only be administered to your school email once all other paperwork has been completed and returned correctly)

Nyssa Students Represent at the Malheur County Fair
It's truly heartwarming to witness the growth and development of these young individuals as they take on various challenges and learning opportunities through their participation in FFA, 4H and other organizations. The Malheur County Fair provides an excellent platform for them to showcase their talents, skills, and the knowledge they have gained through their engagement in agricultural education. Our students' commitment to excellence is a testament to the quality of education and guidance they receive from our Nyssa School District.
I firmly believe that supporting and encouraging our students not only fosters a sense of community pride but also contributes to their personal growth and leadership development. These experiences will undoubtedly serve them well as they move forward in their academic and professional journeys.
As parents, teachers, and community members, it is our collective responsibility to continue empowering and uplifting our students. By attending events like the Malheur County Fair, we demonstrate our unwavering support and appreciation for their hard work and achievements.
NHS Athletics Concussion Test - For the students who turned in athletic paperwork this week that needed to update their Concussion Test please check your school email for an email from Impact Testing - this must be done on a computer or chromebook and takes about 45 minutes - it will time out if you don't just sit still and take it so please don't take it until you have time to do so from start to finish. If you have any questions please feel free to email Mrs. Kenyon at hkenyon@nyssasd.org our high school office is still located in the choir room and we have chromebooks available here as well. Office hours Mon-Thurs 8am to 3pm
NHS BASEBALL!!! On July 18th the Seattle Mariners hosted our Nyssa High School Baseball Bulldogs for a game. They got the opportunity to go out on the field, were awarded a check from a grant that Coach Sapp has been applying for for years, and got to check out some behind the scenes awesomeness. A once in a lifetime experience for your Nyssa Bulldogs. If you see any of the boys around, be sure to ask them how it went. Thank you all for your support!

MCHD is here on campus 8/3 from 9-2pm in the HS Gym foyer offering school vaccines to students K-12. No appointment needed. Free Sports physicals are also available for students playing sports this year. Athletes are required to have a sports physical every two years, but there is required paperwork every year. Stop in to fill out paperwork. Euvalcree and Valley Family are here offering OHP assistance. Nyssa Migrant program is also here offering assistance and services to migrant families.
